week 4 [rachel villalta]

Using the metal mesh from week 2 as a base for this week's mold I applied bubble wrap onto the top of the metal mold in order to see the resolution that the concrete might pick up from the bubble wrap.

week 3 [rachel villalta]

This week I wanted to step away from the mesh and work with different moldable materials. I used a plastic mesh that I again covered in latex. There was an inherent grid within the plastic fabric and manipulation of that grid that I was trying to reproduce onto the concrete, however it was a bit of a failure!

Week 1 [rachel villalta]

For week one I wanted to focus on applying a material texture to the concrete. The base was made from blue foam core and the material was a very dense mesh placed at the bottom of the mold. The mesh wasn't sealed with anything and after removing the concrete the mesh was embedded within the concrete, fortunately the mesh was near the base of the block and exposed so that I could grab ahold of on side and pry it off.
